We’re familiar with root cellars being under ground but the placement of this one is eye-catching for another reason.  It appears to have been pushed down or perhaps sunken with the passage of time.  It stands singularly, in the middle of a lovely patio, without indication of its purpose.  As seasons pass & autumn leaves accumulate around its base, a visitor might not recognize that purpose;  a miniature fortress holding precious cargo – food for winter.
